The Best Bits: My April 2026 Favorites

The Best Bits is a monthly series where I tell you what I’ve been up to! What I’m doing, media I’m loving, and products I recommend! Here’s a fresh batch of favorites for your reading pleasure!

BEAUTY | Physician’s Formula Butter Bronzer

I’ve been keeping my beauty routine fairly paired down for a while now, but recently I’ve wanted to warm things up a bit. I was in need of a new bronzer so I revisited an old favorite and I’ve been loving it! I found a cute makeup tutorial on YouTube that I’ve been loving, and this bronzer is the perfect fit, giving just enough glow without overdoing it. It also smells like summer!

STYLE | Cotton Skirts

Since the weather has warmed up a bit, I’ve been living in breezy cotton skirts. They’re easy to throw on, super comfortable, and look a bit nicer worn around the house than pajama pants do. The two I’m currently rotating are off-season Old Navy, but you can find them pretty much anywhere. Just make sure they’re 100% cotton!

READING | The Knight and the Moth by Rachel Gillig

I’ve been in a huge reading slump lately. I’ve been going days and days in between reading and knowing that I “should” just makes me avoid it more. That being said, I’m really liking the book I’m currently reading. I’m only a few chapters in, but the story and the lore feels pretty fresh compared to a lot of other romantasy books. The love interest (I think) was pretty obvious from the beginning. We shall see, maybe I’ll finish it sometime soon.

CRAFTS | All The Yarn Colors!

I’ve been dyeing a ton of yarn and have been leaning into more color with my crafting lately! I have a bunch of yarn listed in my shop if you’d like to take a look!

WATCHING & LISTENING | Pluribus

David and I started watching Pluribus this month and it’s been sucking us in! Apple TV has had some great shows, I’m glad we finally have a chance to watch them!

IN THE KITCHEN | Water Kefir

A few weeks ago I was grabbing groceries at Trader Joe’s and stumbled across a water kefir drink. I’d never heard of it, but the flavor sounded really good so I picked some up. Once I tried it, I was hooked! I fell down the rabbit hole learning all about it, and decided I could make my own! Basically, water kefir is a beverage made from an organism similar to kombucha scoby. The kefir grains feed on sugar which in turns creates a fermented, carbonated beverage sweetened with fruit juice. I can’t wait until my first batch is done!

SHOPPING | Veggie Garden Seeds & Supplies

The ground is finally thawed enough to get some seeds sewn in the garden! We planted sugar snap peas, two types of beans, carrots, onions, and rhubarb. We’ve also installed a makeshift deer fence that I hope will make a difference this year. Tomatoes will go in soon as well! I’m so ready for fresh vegetables!

OBSESSIONS | Pocket Journals

I couldn’t help myself, I got sucked into the Traveler’s Journal trend. 😬 I placed an order with Paper Republic last month, and a week or so ago my notebook finally arrived! I got a pocket size and I’ve been keeping it in my purse. I’ve customized a few of the notebooks that fit inside, one for random scribbled notes and recording thoughts, one for more serious brainstorming and lists, and another for stickers!

LITTLE MOMENTS | River Dips with Cherry

It’s finally warm enough for some dog swimming, so Cherry got her paws wet this week and went exploring in the Conodoguinet Creek! She’s still not entirely sure about water, but we’re slowly getting her more used to it with every swimming session. Maybe one day she’ll earn the full title of Portuguese Water Dog!

peanut butter eggs that might just be better than peanut butter eggs that might just be better than that one famous brand 😉

recipe:
2 cups sugar
½ cup milk
¼ cup butter
6 ounces peanut butter
3 oz marshmallow creme
⅓ cup all-purpose flour
1 bag chocolate chips or melting wafers

Add sugar, milk, and butter to a saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a boil and stir continuously for 5 mins, then remove from heat.

Stir in peanut butter and marshmallow creme, then slowly incorporate flour and stir until combined.

Pour mixture onto a pan lined with parchment paper and allow to cool for about 30 minutes. When cool enough to handle, shape into eggs, insert a toothpick into each one, and allow to set completely. Then chill in the fridge or freezer for an hour or more to avoid any melting when dipped.

Melt the chocolate, dip each egg, allow to harden and enjoy! 🍫😋

These are the ladies that never fail to remind me of the magic of life. I can’t express how much it means to me that they gathered to spend time in nature and be silly with me. My heart is full and my face hurts still hurts from smiling! And as the song says… it’s in our nature to look out for each other in the heart of the woods 💕🌲
