The Best Bits: My March 2026 Favorites

The Best Bits is a monthly series where I tell you what I’ve been up to! What I’m doing, media I’m loving, and products I recommend! Here’s a fresh batch of favorites for your reading pleasure!
BEAUTY | Burgundy Mascara
For years I had considered buying the L’Oreal Voluminous Mascara in Deep Burgundy and I finally picked it up when I ran out of my old faithful. I wanted to try it since I have hazel eyes, and it really makes the green stand out! The burgundy isn’t super noticible on the lashes compared to brown, which is my typical go-to. If you’re on the fence about trying colored mascara, I would definitely give it a try!
STYLE | L. L. Bean Wide Leg Jeans
I might have found my favorite jeans of all time. When these are in the wash, I’m so sad. They’re comfortable, they look great, and they’re easier to style than a lot of the jeans I have. As someone who hates shopping for jeans, it’s so nice to finally find a staple to fall back on!
READING | Theo of Golden
Theo of Golden was my book club’s pick for the month and I found it a pretty enjoyable read. Theo’s story was as heartwarming as it was a mystery, but I did wish the book ended a little differently. I thought the book was very well written and Theo was such a loveable character.
CRAFTS | Ooey Gooey Cowl
I dyed up some Cozy Alpaca Silk for this cowl and once it was on the needles I finished it within five days! It was such a speedy knit, the colorwork was so addictive! I’m tempted to start on another one of these or something similar soon.
WATCHING & LISTENING | YouTube Podcasts
Emma Chamberlain
I know I’m years late to the party, but I recently started watching Emma Chamberlain‘s videos, and in particular her podcast. I really like the episodes featuring “Things I Like Right Now” since they include really random things like ways to eat yogurt, travel essentials, music, and more.
Sarah J. Maas on Call Her Daddy
I’ve read everything Sarah J. Maas has ever written, so when she was featured on this podcast I had to tune in. We’re getting two new books! After years of waiting, I’m definitely ready to dive back in to the ACOTAR universe.
IN THE KITCHEN | Blueberry Chamomile Jam
We’ve had a big bag of blueberries in our freezer since last summer, and those berries have been burning a hole in my pocket! When I started to get excited for spring I decided it was time to make a pot of jam. To add a little extra flavor I added in a sachet of dried chamomile from my garden, and it has been so delicious on toast with butter!
SHOPPING | Quilting Fabric and Cross Stitch Kits
I let myself fall into a rabbit hole on cross stitch ornaments and now I’m the proud owner of a few Mill Hill beaded cross stitch kits. I’m currently working on an Old Fashioned cocktail themed one, and it’s been really fun! I’m also daydreaming about making a quilt, this fabric in particular has me drooling!
OBSESSIONS | Warmer Weather and Garden Plans
Finally, some warmer weather! The second temps get above 40 degrees I start chomping at the bit to plan my garden for the year. The flower bed along our garage is what I call my “cottage garden.” Truthfully, I have more wants and wishes for this space than I have time or money to spend, but there are a few things I’m moving forward with this season. I found some bricks on Facebook Marketplace that we’re going to use for edging, and I’m hoping I can score some hollyhocks, poppies, japanese anemone, and some evergreen-ish shrubs for structure.
LITTLE MOMENTS | Philadelphia Flower Show & Cuyahoga National Park
My mom and I had the opportunity to attend the Philadelphia Flower Show and we had the best time! There were so many amazing flower displays and artwork, and we learned so much about different flowers and plants! I snagged a pink Hellebore to plant in my cottage garden and a Chive ceramic flower that matches the ranunculus from my wedding bouquet!
Later in the month David, Cherry, and I headed to Cleveland for a quick few days. We tried Skyline Chili, I went to a yarn store, and we took a rainy little hike in Cuyahoga National Park!
