The Best Bits: My December 2025 Favorites

handmade christmas tree skirt

The Best Bits is a monthly series where I tell you what I’ve been up to! What I’m doing, media I’m loving, and products I recommend! Here’s a fresh batch of favorites for your reading pleasure!

READING | The Compound by Aisling Rawle

The Compound was one of the only books I had a hard time putting down this year. The premise is Love Island meets Lord of the Flies, and it was just as intriguing as it sounds! I devoured the audiobook in just two workdays, and it had me guessing the whole time. This is definitely a good book for discussion! I can’t wait to suggest it to my book club!

WATCHING | The Nanny

The Nanny was one of my most favorite shows when I was a kid, and I recently found that it was streaming on Peacock. We’ve been having the best time watching it in the evenings, and it’s been the perfect mix of nostalgia and humor.

WEARING | Lands End Pajamas

One of the goodies that Santa brought me was a new set of cotton pajamas, and it’s been lovely to lounge around in them with a hot cup of tea and some knitting!

COOKING | Christmas Cookies

My best friend Emily and I had a cookie baking weekend where we each put together cookie boxes for our coworkers. We made chocolate chips, peanut butter blossoms, shortbread, and my favorite molasses cookies! Emily also learned to knit while she was here, and I couldn’t be more proud!

SIPPING | Peppermint Nespresso Lattes

David and I treated ourselves to a Nespresso machine as a little Christmas treat and I’ve been making some delicious holiday lattes with their seasonal flavors!

INDULGING | Deadstock Yarn

This month I discovered a company that sells deadstock yarn in cones, which essentially means I was able to score large quantities of premium yarn at a discount! The only “catch” is that the yarn has often been discontinued by the manufacturers, so you have to purchase as much as you could possibly need for any given project. I was able to get enough yarn for a cardigan, a blouse, some other projects I’ve yet decided, and then some!

ADMIRING | Handmade Christmas Decor

Tis the season for a crafty Christmas! I’ve been so excited to set out my DIY gingerbread village, wrap the tree in velvet ribbon garland, and place our presents on the scalloped tree skirt I finished sewing last month. Creating my own holiday heirlooms is one of my favorite things about this season!

OBSESSING | 2025 Reading Goal

This year I set a goal of reading 25 books, and I am SO close to finishing! I’ve managed to find a few really good books in the past few months, but I had a couple reading slumps this year so I might be reading right up until the buzzer on New Year’s Eve!

CELEBRATING | End of Year Coziness

There are just so many sweet things to cherish this time of year. The glow of Christmas lights, a warm tea latte and puppy snuggles, cozy blankets, a new cookbook to pour over, spiced cookies, and spending time with loved ones. December is one of the sweetest months of all!

What are your favorite things this month?

These are the ladies that never fail to remind me of the magic of life. I can’t express how much it means to me that they gathered to spend time in nature and be silly with me. My heart is full and my face hurts still hurts from smiling! And as the song says… it’s in our nature to look out for each other in the heart of the woods 💕🌲
