The Best Bits: My September 2025 Favorites

hozier unreal unearth hershey pennsylvania

The Best Bits is a monthly series where I tell you what I’ve been up to! What I’m doing, media I’m loving, and products I recommend! Here’s a fresh batch of favorites for your reading pleasure!

READING | Prodigal Summer by Barbara Kingsolver

Prodigal Summer is the second Barbara Kingsolver I’ve read this year, and I can now say I understand why she has a cult following! She’s a fantastic writer, and I really enjoyed the different perspectives on the natural world that each of the characters brought to this story. I never thought I’d learn so much about moths or coyotes!

WATCHING | Knitting YouTube

Knitting podcasts have taken over my watch history on YouTube in a big way. While dogsitting for a friend, I watched knitting content almost exclusively to avoid learning how to use her TV. 😂 My favorite channels have been Those Twins Who Knit, A Homespun House, Woozy by Céline, Kutovakika, KnitCheek, and Andrea Mowry.

WEARING | Bridal Accessories

With our wedding date fast approaching, I’m finally closing in on having my bridal look fully decided! This month I got my veil, found a rehearsal dinner dress, and even chose a lipstick! Charlotte Tilbury’s Walk of No Shame turned out to be the one!

EATING | Whoopie Pies

We headed to Lancaster to visit our first ever Whoopie Pie Festival at Hershey Farm Resort. Basically, there were thousands upon thousands of whoopie pies for sale under a huge banquet tent. We walked away with a hefty haul, with flavors ranging from classic to coconut to root beer. They were delicious, but I think I’ve reached my threshold for whoopie pies this year 😂

INDULGING | Long Knitting Evenings

Since I’ve been dog sitting I’ve been away from home and that means less things around the house to distract myself with. I’ve been knitting like crazy, watching my little knitting podcasts cuddled up with some pups, and I’ve and polished off quite a few socks this month!

SHOPPING FOR | Pre-Wedding Skincare

Our wedding is only a few weeks away now, so I’ve been trying to get serious about achieving that flawless bridal skin. My skin tends toward the dry side and loooves exfoliation, but I’m keeping it relatively simple and using my old faithfuls: Clinique Moisture Surge, Fresh Soy Face Cleanser, Pixi Glow Tonic, and The Ordinary AHA Peeling Solution.

OBSESSING | Yarn Dyeing

Over the past few weeks I’ve been learning how to dye natural fibers with acid dyes and I am absolutely OBSESSED. Everyone I know is about to get so sick of me! I’ve mostly just been experimenting (with some fairly ugly results at times) but I have come up with a few pretty colors, and I’m really excited to be able to knit with my own hand-dyed yarn!

CELEBRATING | Good Friends and Good Music

This month we had the pleasure of attending Hozier’s Unreal Unearth show at Hershey Park Stadium. David, myself, and our friends Lee and Tianna piled in the car and set out for an evening of beautiful music and the opportunity to shed a few tears. David and I had seen a show on this tour last year, and it was so sweet and to watch my best friends enjoying one of our favorite artists in the flesh! My heart is so full!

My heart is full and my face hurts still hurts from smiling! And as the song says… it’s in our nature to look out for each other in the heart of the woods 💕🌲
